Magnificent giclee reproduction of the antique world map created and published in 1531 by French mathematician and cartographer Oronce Fine AKA Oronce Finé an Fineus Orontius (1494-1555).
It depicts the most precise and accurate antique map, including more than the one compiled in 1513 from military intelligence by the Ottoman admiral and cartographer Piri Reis. It is not understood how it was possible for Fine (Finé) to have drawn the Antarctic (Terra Avstralis) with such precision since it was not until 1773 that Captain James Cook and his crew became the first to cross the Antarctic Circle. And Russian Admiral Fabian Gottlieb von Bellingshausen was the first one to arrive on the Antarctic mainland in 1821.
